Donna's Thinking Out Loud

Wednesday

Last night we were offered an amazing opportunity....I have a cousin who owns a business of cleaning vent hoods and he is in a crunch right now and called and asked if Tom could come help him. So, we are going to go down there for 2 weeks... I am so excited! While Tom and Travis are working, Tanya, me and the kids will be playing!!! She has already said we will go to Galveston one day and play on the beach. Tom is excited about learning a new trade.

The only blight to the whole thing is my parents' reaction to this. I know we are our own adults, but my family is so intertwined it is as if one of us can't sneeze or blow our nose without the other knowing or feeling the need to instruct on how it should have been done. Don't get me wrong. I am very thankful for my family and I love them very much, but it is not a healthy family structure. We got in a tight spot a few weeks ago and borrowed some money from my parents and their first thought when I told them we were going to Texas for 2 weeks was that we were taking money to vacation with instead of paying them back like we should. What they didn't take time to hear was that my cousin is paying Tom to work for him and we will actually be able to pay them back sooner because of this "trip". It really breaks my heart that things are the way they are in my family, but countless times of talking things over has never accomplished a thing, so I really don't know what the next step would be, if there even was one. I do know that they really know how to suck the joy out of anything a person wants or tries to do.

Well, it is late and I need to get to bed.....I am still having work computer troubles and I have to tackle that first thing in the morning.

Rainy Day

Today is cloudy and rainy and a good day for snuggling on the couch with a book or an old movie. Which reminds me that I need to check with the library and see if I can get the movie Gone with the Wind. My cousin thinks it incredible that I have never seen it yet since I am an avid movie watcher...:)

Today is Kayla and Lindsay's 2nd day at camp. I hope it is not raining too much there and hampering the activities. They were excited about going.

Shelby has been keeping me company and we went to a new store in town this afternoon to check it out. It is a liquidation type store and they had very few things. I think we will wait a while longer before going back and maybe by that time they will have a little more selection.

Today is the first time I have tried to make a blog and I really hope I get this right. It looks to be something I will really enjoy.
